Hi everyone! Just a friendly reminder re: tonight’s meeting – 6:30 p.m. at Chips! If you haven’t already confirmed, please let me know if you plan to attend. We will be in the meeting room in the back.
Just FYI, below is a message from Ankeny Parks & Recreation that they will be sending to their list of members, followed by tonite’s agenda. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Dog Park Summer Message
5/30/2012

Good Day! On behalf of the parks and recreation department, thank you for your continued patronage and support of the Ankeny Dog Park! Everyone associated with the dog park is excited about the upcoming Open House scheduled for June 9. Jacquie Holm-Smith and the Dog Park Task Force have lined up a series of fun events and even some food for the day! Please consider participating as it is free – but donations are always accepted!

A reminder if you have yet to purchase your dog park pass, they are on sale at the parks/recreation office, 210 South Ankeny Blvd or City Hall, 410 West First Street at a cost of $25/resident per dog and $35/non-resident per dog. All dogs must be licensed through the City of Ankeny or non-residents through the County.

Please note the following…Additional signage has been/is in the process of being added to the entry fence so that rules are easier to read and hopefully follow. Also, due to several altercations inside the shelter while people/dogs were congregating around the two benches on either side of the shelter, those two benches will be removed and placed outside the shelter area to hopefully discourage too much congregating of people and dogs in the shelter fenced-in area. A rock path around the large dog area will be coming later this season and some new trees will be in place shortly. There will be opportunities for additional bench purchases around the path and outside the shelter.

Thanks for your support of the Ankeny Dog Park! Enjoy the summer and hope to see you June 9 at the Open House.

Todd Redenius, Director of Parks & Recreation
City of Ankeny
