October 13 & our 5th Annual Barktoberfest will be here before we know it! 
This will be our LAST ONE, so if you wanted to get involved, this is IT!
 
We plan to meet Monday, Aug. 20, 6 p.m. at Chips to discuss details.
 
In short:

• Demos
• Contests
• Prizes
• T-Shirts - we'll need to place order early Sept.!
• Photos - for portraits & calendars
• Volunteers
• Promotion

 
Please let me know if you can join us ... if you can't meet on the 20th, but would like to be involved, please let me know as well.
We look forward to making this the BEST Barktoberfest yet!

Time to dust off our party hats & get busy planning our 5th Annual Barktoberfest on Oct. 13!
 
LET'S MEET: Weds., Sept. 12
PLACE: Chips (patio if available)
TIME: 6:30pm 
 
LET'S TALK: 

• Demos - agility, nosework, performance team
• Contests - costume, cake walks, best trick?
• Prizes - gift certs, etc.
• T-Shirts - long-sleeved Ts; $15 ea; will need commitments & payment in advance! 
• Photos - CLIX portraits - new display ideas? 
• Volunteers - need 12-15 people to help with promotion, prizes, registration, set up/tear down, etc!
• Promotion - distribute flyers, etc.
• Calendars - coming soon!

Hey everybody! 

Is your dog ready to rock his Halloween costume this year?! 

The 5th & FINAL Barktoberfest will be here before we know it - Oct. 13 at Chips in Ankeny from 1-5pm! 

Averaging 150 dogs annually, it’s the biggest dog party of the year ... which means seating is limited! Remember to bring a LAWN CHAIR! :)

This year’s lineup includes:

• agility and nosework demonstrations by Canine Craze Performance Center
• adorable adoptables from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and other area rescue groups
• food and beverages by Chips Restaurant 
• professional pet portraits by CLIX Portrait Studio 
• nail trimming by Pawsitively Pampered 
• gourmet pet treats by Brown Dog Bakery
• courtesy grounds service by Scooper Troopers
• fun contests and prizes – including a Halloween Costume contest and Canine Cake Walks
• Get this! A NEW 2013 Ankeny Dog Park calendar celebrating past events and happy fidos will be for sale for $10 each. Proceeds will benefit future Dog Park enhancements.
  

Admission: Just $5 per dog. Entertainment and activities are free; food, beverages and optional services are available for a fee.

Barktoberfest gives dogs and dog-lovers a chance to socialize and concludes five years of fundraising by the founding members of the Ankeny Dog Park Task Force. 

• Ankeny’s 7.5-acre off-leash dog park opened in 2010, thanks to title sponsor Community State Bank and many generous donors. 
• Future fundraising efforts will commence as new Task Force members and enhancements are identified. 
• Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer Dog Park Ambassador or Task Force member is encouraged to contact Ankeny Parks & Recreation at 963-3570.

Newsflash: The Dog Park will be closed for a few days beginning Weds., Oct. 3, through Friday the 12th, for the installation of a new walking path.
