Doeberl Cup 2020 (open to adults and juniors)

Over the Easter long weekend, the ACT Chess Association hosted the annual Doeberl Cup at the Southern Cross Club. This is Australia's premier chess event of the year and featured over 300 people from across Australia and some overseas players. Across the four major events (Premier, Major, Minor and Under 1200) and the Blitz, we had past and present ACT juniors and coaches participating in the event and we had some great performances by the ACT players.

Our very own Shaun Press was the organiser of the event and has created some blog posts about the event which you may wish to check out at http://chessexpress.blogspot.com/

Results for all the events can be found at http://www.doeberlcup.com.au/draws_results.html. Congratulations to everyone involved and participated in the event!

Grandmaster Hrant Melkumyan Simul - applications close by Thursday 5 May

The ACT Junior Chess League will hold a members-only simul with Grandmaster Hrant Melkumyan at 3pm on Sunday 8th May at Campbell High School.

To be eligible to participate in the simul, juniors must:

How to apply
Parents/guardians of juniors (or juniors) who meet the eligibility criteria need to email me (Kate, secr...@actjcl.org.au) with the player's first and last names and a contact mobile number by 5pm on Wednesday 4th May. Please be aware that as the simul is limited to 20 players, not everyone who meets the eligibility criteria will receive a place.

I will notify successful/unsuccessful applicants via email by Thursday 5th May.
