Results - 2020 Spring Boot Camp

Thank you to all participants who competed in last week's Spring Boot Camp. This was our first event in several months and we are very pleased that so many of you were eager to learn and compete in the Boot Camp. Over the week, the participants got the opportunity to receive coaching and compete in different time control tournaments. A special congratulations to our most consistent performers over the week, including Cameron Allnut, Somon Vos and Alastair Lowrey.

I'd also like to thank Shaun, Jamie-Lee, Athena and all the parents who assisted with the Boot Camp. A special thanks to the Karthik and Cheng family for helping us on the last day to help us direct a tricky bird who managed to get into the library and very reluctant to leave the Library (took us awhile to marshal the bird out).   And a huge thank you to Campbell High School for letting us used their Library.

Don't forget that we are running our most important event of the year, the ACT Junior Chess Championships, from Wednesday to Friday this week. Please see the attached flyer.

Upcoming Tournament - School Chess Championships Allegro (Primary 18 October and Secondary 25 October) - flyers attached

Due to Covid-19 restrictions the ACT Junior Chess League will be holding its interschool events in a different format for this year. There will be two tournaments, one for Primary School Players (on the 18th October), and one for Secondary School Players (25th October). I have attached flyers for both events to this email. Importantly, these events are being held on Sundays at Campbell High School Library. There is no expectation that the school will organise the players, with entry being the responsibility of individual players and parents.

It is also important to note that this is an individual event, so even if there are only 1 or 2 players from your school that are able to attend, that is both fine and encouraged.

Norths resumes this Friday 16 October
To ensure the club runs smoothly and that we are COVID safe, please ensure that you register your child/children with us by dropping me an email ASAP and prior to this Friday's class at Radford. If your child attended last term, please ensure that you let us know if they are not coming this term so we can give the spot to another child.

    Kind regards
    Emma
