Dear junior chess player, parent or teacher, the ACT Junior Chess League is about to hold the ACTJCL Interschool  Chess Zone Events. These events are open to all schools in the ACT and surrounding regions.
I would like to invite you (and your school) to take part in these events. Schools can usually send between 1 and 20 players to each zone event, which are held as individual tournaments. The best 4 scores from each school make up the schools team points (with the next 4 counting towards team 2 etc). Each zone will qualify a number of teams towards the final, which will be played in term 3.
The dates and venues for this year's interschool series can be found at https://actjcl.org.au/actjcl/school_chess.php At this stage there are a couple of dates to be confirmed, while in one case a venue has yet to be chosen. This page will be updated when dates and venues are confirmed.
This is the official schools championship for ACT Chess, and the winning teams have a chance to represent the ACT at the Australian Schools Teams Championship at the end of the year.
If you are interested in attending, and haven't heard anything about it from your school, please chase it up, as all schools have been contacted already! If you attend a school where a venue isn't being shown for your zone, you may even suggest your school volunteer to host!
I am happy to answer any questions concerning these events. I can be contacted at shaun...@gmail.com or 0488 954 938 (M)

Regards
Shaun Press
ACT Interschool Chess Coordinator
