Thank you to everyone who participated at last week's Winter Holiday Boot Camp. We had a great turnout of 30 - 40 participants at each event. Over the course of four days, children had the opportunity to receive coaching and compete over various formats of
chess. Masaki Horikawa was the dominant performer, winning all three events outright but there was fierce competition across the board.
I'd like to thank our wonderful coaches, arbiters, parents, volunteers and the participants. If you enjoyed the boot camp, make sure you don't miss out on our next school holiday events (information to be released soon) and our other upcoming events.

2022 Norths Term 3 Resumes - 22 July
Norths Term 3 is resuming Week 1 of Term 3, Friday 22 July at Radford College (Room R0G01). If you are interested in joining, please register your interest via the following TryBooking link https://www.trybooking.com/CAXYM.
During the School Term, the ACTJCL runs the Northside Chess Club every Friday from 4pm-5:45pm. The schedule is as follows:
| 4:00-4:15pm | Participants arrive and can play social games (if they wish). Please do not drop children off before 4pm without adult supervision. |
| 4:15-5:00pm | Group coaching (children are grouped according to ability level and/or age |
| 5:00-5:45pm | Children are paired against each other and complete the puzzle competition. Children are picked up at 5:45pm. |
Fees
Term
fees for North Junior Chess Club $120. In addition to joining the club, all participants need
to be an ACT Junior Chess League
member. The ACTJCL annual membership fee
is $15 for individual or $20 for family (ie more than one player).

Open/Minor 2022 29-31 July
If you have queries on whether the event is appropriate for your child(ren), please don't hesitate to

The ACT Chess Association presents the 2022 ANU Open and Minor (Under 1600) events, which is open to adults and juniors. The event will be run over three days and you are able to request byes if you are unable to attend the entire event.
Schedule
Round 1 Friday 29th 7PM,
Round 2 Sat 30th 10am, Rd 3 2pm, Round 4, 6pm
Round 5 Sun 31st 10am, Round 6 2pm Prize giving 6pm
Entry Fee: $80 ($60 concession) - GM, IM, WGM and WIM Free
Prizes: $1000 1st Open, $400 1st Minor $3600 in total
Venue: ANU School of Art, Childers St Acton (NB Venue still to be confirmed. The alternative venue is Campbell High School, Treloar Cres, Campbell ACT).
