2025 ACT Junior Rapid Chess Championships - Sunday 18 May 2025

The ACTJCL is inviting you to participate in the ‘2025 ACT Junior Rapid Chess Championships’. Rapid chess (also known as Allegro chess) is the same playing conditions as the school championships (that is, games are played with clocks with each player having 15 mins to complete his/her moves) but children compete as individuals.  This tournament caters to all standards of play and is suitable for all eligible players who can confidently move the chess pieces around the board.  


When
Sunday 18 May. Registration starts at 12:45pm and presentation approximately 5pm.

2025 ACT Chess Championship

The ACT Chess Association will be hosting the 2025 ACT Chess Championships over the May Reconciliation Day Long Weekend. It is one of Canberra's major events of the year and it is open to adults and juniors. Please note that participants will be required to record their moves for the duration of the game. Eastlakes Club is a licensed venue, so please ensure that a responsible adult is supervising your child(ren) at all times. 
If you need to miss a round or two, please contact the event organisers via TryBooking and request a Bye.

Norths Term 2 2025  

I am pleased to advise that Norths Term 2 will resume on Friday 2 May at Radford College (Room R0G01). If you are interested in joining, please register your child(ren) via the following link https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1387527. For planning purposes, please ensure you register via the link provided. 

The schedule is as follows and the club runs on Friday during the Public School Term:

4:00-4:15pm
Participants arrive and can play social games (if they wish). Please do not drop children off before 4pm without adult supervision and ensure that one of the adult coaches is there before you leave your child. 
4:15-5:00pm
Group coaching (children are grouped according to ability level and/or age)
5:00-5:45pm
Children are paired against each other and when their games are finished they participate in the puzzle competition. Children are picked up at 5:45pm.

Fees​

Term fees for North Junior Chess Club is $120 per child. In addition to joining the club, all participants need to be an ACT Junior Chess League member. The ACTJCL membership fee is $15 for individuals or $20 for family (ie more than one player) - membership link is provided below.
