Results from 2024 Summer Boot Camp - Tournament Report

This Summer school holidays, the ACT Junior Chess League hosted the Summer Boot Camp. After three intensive coaching sessions, our juniors participated in four days of tournament play across three different formats. This year's boot camp sported an unbelievably strong field of siblings; the Cheng, Fasakin and Horikawa brothers took many of the top spots. Owen MacMullin, Louis Chen, Daniel Spencer and Kynan Mason also frequented the top end of the table across the events. Nonetheless, the Fasakin brothers prevailed. Olamide, in particular, achieved an incredible 23-tournament-game win streak and secured the brilliancy prize for his miniature against Larry Cheng. Congratulations to all the prize winners on their outstanding performances. Thanks also to the efforts of our coaches, Aden Power, Siddhant Badrinarayan and Charles Huang and those who helped ensure the week ran smoothly.

Special thank you to Campbell High School for their continued support of chess in the ACT and to Shaun Press and Aden Power for managing the events.
