Bookmobile holds using Koha and Aspen

Hi Everyone, 

I would love to be able to provide holds pickups at our bookmobile stops. Our ILS is Koha and Aspen is the discovery system our patrons use to access our resources.

My questions: 

• Does your library use Aspen and Koha while also providing holds pickups at bookmobile stops? 
• If yes, would you mind sharing your process?

It seems our challenge is trying to figure out how to use one branch to manage requests from 18 different bookmobile stops.

I don’t have either of those systems, but I can tell you how we do it!

 

If someone puts it on hold for pickup at our Mobile Library (and it’s not a patron we “know” already), we give them a call and ask. We then put their stop information in a field in our ILS. We actually do this for our home delivery patrons as well! We use the first phone field and put:

When holds come in, we put them on the ML. We give people a month to pick them up, but most don’t take that long.
