Hi all,

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has recommendations for alternative bags to use at lobby stops instead of cloth ones. We currently use our library-branded cloth bags to deliver materials to lobby stop patrons; however, several sites have returned items with bed bugs. We're looking for non-cloth bag options that would work better in these situations.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Sandra

We use paper bags from Uline. We reuse what we can and recycle the rest.

We use our city’s Visitor Center (we are a municipal library) branded car garbage bags for some of our patrons instead of the cloth bags. They are clear and we write the patron’s last name so we can reuse them for quite a while.

We use these bags as they are also water resistant. They are not necessarily fabric, but a coated fabric.

Regarding using paper bags for home delivery. Someone told me that her mother got home delivery and the library partnered with a  school to have the kids draw pictures and color on the paper bags that her books came in. They would also write encouraging messages. Her mom would always look forward to seeing what her bags would look like.
I love this idea

I did a lot of decorating on paper bags when the library was only open for curbside during the shutdown. It was fun for me and patrons would tell us later that they kept some of them.

The group rate is $199 Thanks!

If you're Interested just send me your house address and contact number or you can reach him at 786- 952-3671 and he'll add you to the list of interested once. Thanks

During the pandemic shutdown, we partnered with our local grocery and Menards stores where they donated plastic bags. We didn't reuse these. It was free publicity for the stores. And since we asked multiple stores, their cost was low.

We still continue this for situations where it's necessary due to possible smells, bugs, etc.

Good luck in finding a long-term solution

Tina
