Hi Everyone,

I've got a delightful question to start your weekend off right! I know we have all exchanged many emails about what to do if bed bugs are found in library books, but does anyone have any advice for what to do when carpet beetles are found in library books?

I recently put a couple of books into clear ziploc bags to monitor them after I found some suspicious rust-colored spots on them. Three weeks in, and I haven't seen any signs of bed bugs, but I did find a live carpet beetle.

Does anyone have experience with this? Do I need to be concerned? My immediate thought is to discard the books, because, bugs, but do I need to suspend services to the place these books came from?

Any thoughts, advice, or information would be much appreciated!

Thank you!
Katie

No experience with them in a professional capacity, but I know someone who got them in their home and it was A JOB to get rid of them. They had to throw away almost a third of their household possessions, and the cleaning and laundering regimen was insane and lasted weeks before there were no more signs of their nymphs anywhere.
If you have any loropetalums planted around your building, these can be host plants for them.
It could just be a straggler, but I would proceed with caution. At the very least closely monitor the materials coming from that particular patron for a while to see if it happens aga
