UCF Housing and Residence Life Graduate Assistant
Graduate Assistants (GAs) are leaders who work in the University of Central Florida’s Department of Housing and
Residence Life to develop safe and secure living environments, and assist students in their personal and academic development. GAs gain experience in supervision, advising, mediation, budgeting, crisis management and more. As a GA, every day is a chance to
develop leadership
skills while connecting residents and student staff to all the benefits UCF offers. Graduate Assistants are required to live in department-provided housing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of a live-in Area Coordinator, the GA will be responsible for working approximately 30 hours a week, and responsibilities may include: advising the area hall council program and/or co-supervising student staff, assisting with initiatives
such as recruitment and selection, training and development, safety and security, social education, living-learning communities, and community or department-wide activities. Graduate staff also create diverse and inclusive communities, mediate resident conflicts
and respond to crisis situations, working on-call approximately four weeks per semester.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates will be confident in the ability to lead students in creating a positive community, possess strong administrative skills and a desire to serve as a representative of the university. Successful candidates will meet the following qualifications:
Current UCF
graduate-degree seeking student or applicant to UCF degree program (at time of application); approved to work in the U.S.; 3.0 GPA, if
current UCF graduate student, which must be maintained as a GA; enrolled as a full-time, and degree-seeking student while serving as a GA.
COMPENSATION
Paid $10.62 an hour for 20 office hours per week, while also receiving excellent additional benefits for hours worked beyond your 20-hour schedule. These include: Tuition remission, including out-of-state (excluding fees); department-provided living accommodations;

insurance coverage
