This is the big fat semiconductor fast fuse to protect the controller
from the battery pack. Does anybody know where to get the holders
to mount these on the car?

There is a holder at the bottom of this page:

...but I wanted something more substantial and protected.

Thoughts?

Here's what I came up with .

More substantial but still unprotected.

Kudos for a creative solution. I discovered the official fuse block for this fuse,
but I didn't find it for less than $50:

Here it is for about half price:

Maybe I'll just stick with the EV Source fuse clamp, mount it to
an interior wall, and protect all the shiny bits with shrink tube.

I use the 1 Pole and 3 Pole  ultrasafe DIN-rail mount fuse holder shown in my solar monitoring equipment.  I'll send you one and a section of DIN rail if you want it.

That would be awesome, Mike. Do you have a link to the picture?

Depending on your system voltage Rebirth might have one. 160v and
under they offer a covered fuse holder, but for 300v and under it is
the same open holder as everyone else.

Sorry, not sure what picture you mean.  The one I'm talking about is the single pole unit at the top of this web page:

Hey Mike - You said "I use the... fuse holder shown in my solar monitoring equipment." Just wondering if you have shots of where it is shown. It think the fuses you reference are for various components, like the DC-DC converter, ceramic heater, charger, etc. I'm talking about the fast semiconductor fatties that protect the controller.

Thanks,
MB

It's curious that the fuse holder is more expensive than the fuse itself by about $5.
I think I'm just going to make this work:

http://www.evsource.com/images/fuses/holders/201-35-38P-example.jpg

Nothing lost at $2.18.

I'll just heat shrink some tubing on either side to protect and insulate the lugs.

Thanks y'all.

Another question regarding the fast semiconductor fuses:

Is one enough to protect the controller, or is it better to have one per battery bundle (I have 3 bundles of 12 cells).

Also, where is the best place to insert them into the battery/contactor/controller circuit?

Thanks,
McB
