Folks,

I actually drove my car 10 miles last weekend! It's a funny feeling
to work on it for so long and then be able to enjoy the fruits of your
labor. My thanks to everyone here for your help along the way.
Latest blog updates: http://porsche914e.blogspot.com/

Now onto the rotting fruit ... My body shop lost my rear trunk
hinges. They apparently don't know how to do a Google search because
they claimed not to be able to find replacements for sale. They will
pay for them, and I can get them at Pelican, but when I look at the
parts catalog in that area, there is a small rounded-rectangular
bracket that somehow mounts in with the hinge area.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=OEM-91451205910&catalog_description=Genuine%20Porsche%20Part%3A%20HOOD%20BRACKET

I'm not using the spring-bars. Those and the rollers are gone in
favour of Camp914's gas struts. All I think I need the hinges to do
is to hinge at the single point on the stud on the bracket welded to
the wheel arch. If I just buy the hinges am I OK or are in fact the
bracket and additional bolts/nuts/washers required?

By the way, does anyone know why one hinge costs nearly $100 more than
the other?

Thanks!
Mike Brown
No, not that one, another one.

I would go E-Bay to buy the hinges. They get parted out all the time (I
don't see any right now, as if to prove me wrong). And only go for a couple
of bucks.

I had to replace my hinge pivots (the sheet metal had rusted and torn off).
So I can recommend the replacement product
http://www.jwesteng.com/porsche/914/pivot.htm
And then the rear gas struts from Camp 914.

If more pictures of the install would help you decide let me know I'll grab
some more.
Joe

Thanks for the info Joe. Close-up pictures would be great, as the
Pelican guy was clueless about the small brackets. My hinge pivots
are in good shape and I have the gas struts from Camp914 and will
install them as soon as I get some hinges!

I uploaded a bunch of shots of the pivot install on my blog: groundzerolabs.blogspot.com

If there's something I missed; let me know. I have a lot of room still to take pictures in.

I'm having a really hard time spending money at EV Source. It would appear that they're having a lot of staff turnover right now and I'm just really frustrated.

All I really want is a reputable dealer for a Curtis controller, a pedal assembly and the cable to connect the two.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Try KTA in Ramona California.
I have purchased many EV parts and they are very good.
quick response time as well.

I'm about to part-out (or sell complete) my 914 conversion.  It has an utterly unused Zilla in it.  Just sayin'....

I bought mine at a place called "grassroots ev" in Las Vegas.

Since then there are many more distributors from which to choose.

They have their main "electron mover" on the DIY site ready to assist with issues.

You can download their manual off the Evnetics web site and read the features and how they work.

Thank yo so much George. I'm familiar with Grassroots. Their location in Florida is much closer to me, besides, I love Florida.

It's not Curtis, but I have been happy so far with my Kelly controller.
