Good morning gents,
I've just discovered this sight from TMP.s discussions. I started
large scale wargaming gaming with Papo Romans and barbarians, then
their medievals caught my eye. They were "cute" but I wanted more
detail- then Schleich caught my eye. They have much better
"realism" (if a 1/18th scale toy can ever really be said to be
realistic ) than Papo's general line. However then I discovered
Papo's "Prestige" line. Wow!! Incredible detail. I ran a Roman vs
Barbarians game at HMGS/ Pacific southwest's con and even old
grognards were stunned by the new quality of these "stupid little kid
toys".
I want to run more skirmish games and use Song of Blades and Heros
rules. This is a 1:1 scale set. Should be fun.
Anyone out there building a Papo Roman Legion??

Hi Mark,

Welcome.

Sorry I had to delay posting of your message: the Group has been
getting spammed, so I review all first-time posts. You're are legit!
From now on your posts should appear as quickly as Google Groups
allows (which is almost right away).

I haven't even heard of a "prestige line" by Papo. Any piccies to
share with us, links to them, or similar?...

Don't forget about BBI's line of Romans. Their old website had a b-e-
a-u-t-i-f-u-l pic of 90mm soldiers all arranged in a testudo
formation. If I recall correctly it was ten wide and ten deep
(obviously the manufacturer doesn't need to worry about deep pockets),
but the interesting thing was the variety of poses, with a shieldwall
in the front rank, javelins behind them, and raised shields comprising
of the remaining ranks. That pic alone almost drew me away from
medievals and into ancients........almost.
