I think this would be a bomb mash-up that combines two songs with different genres together. You could take it several ways, but I think a contrast between relatively bare sounding "instrumentation" on the verses (like how Seven Nation Army is) and a thick harmonies on the chorus would be cool. Gives a lot of dynamics to play around with. Buckets would also have a great time doing synth sounds from Sweet Dreams and different people could try different sounds to work on diversity. It would be a good opportunity for Todd to experiment with mashing up songs with different vibes and putting the backing parts together effectively in counterpoint (not sure if that's the best way to phrase it, but yeah haha). If done properly, it would be a good double solo song that could be really impressive sonically around the bridge and ending. I imagine it getting really big with lots of harmonies and crescendoing into the last combined chorus.
People definitely know both of these songs. Sweet Dreams is one of those good throwbacks that people that don't even listen to the 80's that much know. Also, even if people don't listen to rock music that much, they also know Seven Nation Army. It's not a mashup that people would think of normally, so I think people would be interested from that alone in the program. Then, people would be even more into once they started jamming. Definitely a mashup more suited to getting the audience really into it. We would have to turn it out with vibe-ing onstage too, no limp fish movements haha.
It's pretty bomb as a mashup, but we obviously don't have to follow this specific format if we do it [and probably shouldn't anyway. Get those creative juices flowing ;) ] BUT, I do love how bombastic it is at the end. With a complex layered bridge before that? It would be so hot.
Here's a link to the mashup I found on Youtube that made me think of it in the first place:
