I have a minor role in Gianni, but I can't recommend it highly enough despite that. This is a beautifully sung production, very amusing, and approachable. A very easy introduction to opera for non-opera fans. Puccini wrote some marvelous music for this short piece. (I love Dido as well, but it is not funny, so I don't want to mislead anyone.)

Dido and Aeneas | Gianni Schicchi

August 23 & 24, 2013 @ 7:30pm

Draper Historic Theatre
12366 South 900 East
Draper, UT

Come!  See and hear the tragic tale of Dido, Queen of Carthage as her lover, Aeneas, Prince of Troy, abandons her to fulfill his destiny at the command of the gods.  Starring Mindy Ammons and Joey Calkins (UNIPAC Founder) as the “star-crossed” lovers destined to be forever separated.  And don’t miss the story of Gianni Schicchi, the man mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy as one who is damned to Hell for lying.  At the end of the opera, he pleads for the audience to forgive him because his intentions were, after all, noble – for true love.  Starring Brandtley Henderson as Gianni Schicchi.

Tickets: $12 - Adults | $8 - Senior, Student, Military
