A question tweeted by Adam:

Is there a way to get consistent ratio images via API? (Like an Album Art Square, instead of a mix of rectangles and squares?

Answer:

When requesting images from the API, you can only specify the image width, not height. The aspect ratio is whatever we receive from the content providers, and the API does not currently support stretching of images.

If you want to guarantee square images, you could apply HTML or CSS to adjust the images. For some ideas on how to do this you could check the new 7digital website (http://www.7digital.com/beta/on). Our website resizes and crops the images using CSS to display a square image. To find some examples, it is best to do an artist search, as artist images are more likely than album images to be oblong. For example, search for the artist "double image" - their photo is 300x536.
