
WAVES OF UNITY SEEKS TO BRING POSITIVE CHANGE TO PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF MUSLIMS IN AMERICA

Local Muslim non-profit aims to bring together Americans of all faiths at the Dallas Convention Center on Veteran’s Day 2012
(DALLAS, October 2012; source: Abstract Method Marketing) - This Veteran’s Day, the Deen Institute of North America (DINA) and the SMU Muslim Student Association are proud to announce the first annual Waves of Unity to take place at the Dallas Convention Center Arena. DINA aims to bring together people of all faiths by holding a large scale celebration of religious tolerance and multi-cultural understanding. 23 Pastors and several Imams (Muslim Clergy) in the DFW area have endorsed the event as essential. Ultimately striving to eliminate or significantly reduce negative stereotyping of Muslims in the United States, while promoting religious understanding, DINA’s main objective is to build personal connections between Muslim Americans and Americans of other faiths and backgrounds. On Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2 - 9 p.m. at the Dallas Convention Center Arena, DINA will bring together speakers and performers of all faiths from across the nation for Waves of Unity, in an attempt to familiarize people of all faiths to Muslim Americans on a personal level. The Dallas Convention Center is located at 650 South Griffin Street, Dallas, Texas 75202.
This Veteran’s Day, from 2 until 9 p.m., patrons can experience a wide array of speakers and performers at the first annual Waves of Unity. Current speakers for Waves of Unity include: Pastor Bob Roberts, Reverend Deborah Lindsay, Hamza and Hussain Abdullah, Imam Yaseen Shaikh, Imam Zaid Shakir, Dr. John Esposito, Nouman Ali Khan, Sh. Hamza Yusuf, and Pastor Wes Magruder. Current performers for Waves of Unity include: comedian Aman Ali and musicians, The Dallas String Quartet and Native Deen.
Registration for Waves of Unity is 25 USD for general admission stadium seating, 45 USD for
