Hi David and Members of the 75Th,

I am Claudia Lauland, daughter-in-law of John Lauland (member of the 75Th, 290Th anti tank co), and I am now a substitute teacher in the area that I live (Lafitte, Louisiana, USA). I started an organization in our area to recognize our area veterans (all ages, all eras, past and present) and to make sure that their stories are preserved and told to the generations that are following and will follow their legacies! I have also created a program with our 4Th, 5Th, and 6Th grade students to make sure that they are told the "TRUE" stories of the brave men and women in our country and our allied forces! Our 4Th and 5Th grade students are shown artifacts from the civil war and told about the service of my family members (both Confederate and Union). My husband and our friend portray soldiers from both sides, while I portray a lady of that area.

Our 6Th grade is taught about WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc., to present day. I dress like the Vietnam era nurse, my husband like the WW II American soldier, one of our friends dresses like the WW II Russian soldier, and another friend dress like the WW II German soldier. We have artifacts of the time frames that we display and tell the students about. We also take a field trip to the WW II National D-Day Museum.

This living history is not about us or our friends that participate, but about the "BRAVE" men and women that have so gallantly served the world for peace! To all of you that have served, I salute you and say "THANK YOU " for a job well done!!

I am now asking that anyone that would be willing to allow me to use their stories to pass on to others (our children) , so that they know "FREEDOM ISN'T FREE", please email them to me so that your part will be preserved and that your story will never be forgotten!

I do what I do so that you will always be honored!!

Thanks to all,

Claudia Lauland
