289th Infantry

My father and I spent two weeks in Belgium this summer retracing the steps of Item Company, 289th Infantry regiment 75th Division from their arrival in Belgium up to their offensive action against the village of Salmchateau.  My Uncle, Joe H Mann was killed on January 16, 1945 outside the village. It was a wonderful trip with the countryside seemingly unchanged from over 65 years ago. Would love to hear from anyone familiar with the 289th.

My heartfelt thanks goes out to the 75th Division World War II Veterans,
families and friends. The 75th Division Soldiers were fighting in the
Battle of the Bulge 65 years ago this week.
Please keep the current 75th Division Soldiers in your thoughts and
prayers, some of whom are serving in Iraq(Operation Iraqi Freedom) and
Afghanistan(Operation Enduring Freedom).
