Looks like the app we use to schedule twitter messages has been hacked. I didn't see any spam messages in our twitter timeline but I've gone ahead and disconnected it anyway. Details on the breach can be found at snipe.net and the buffer app page. Sorry for any inconvenience and I'll keep an eye on the situation from here. We may want to discuss if we want to continue using this service at our next meetup.

Are there alternatives that are a bit more trustable? What do business marketing types use?

I have HootSuite for Carry Norfolk and can add the ruby groups twitter to my account to schedule stuff.

I use buffer. I'd be inclined to stick with them as the breach has been fixed. Plus its free.
