Anyone here interested in attending Codemash in Ohio in January?  It's a huge polyglot conference that I've had the pleasure of attending 2 years in a row.  It's at the Kalahari (indoor waterpark).  About 1900 attendees.

I'm considering renting a large van and driving there, possibly picking people up along the way.  Tickets go on sale in the next week or two, so I wanted to see if anyone here was interested.

Leave on Jan 6th, return Jan 11th.

I definitely understand that.  But Codemash is NEXT year.

No worries.  Just putting out the offer.

I was a sure in but I'm kind of on the fence now considering the recent conference drama and just wanting to focus on business and product development. I'll know more as we get closer to the event.

With that being said how long is the drive? I usually fly to these kind of things.

Yeah, most of the drama is internet fabricated BS.  I feel horrible for her, but the conference had no responsibility in the matter.  It definitely won't stop them from selling out on day one.

It's about 9-10 hour drive (depending on how much you need to pee).  I'm typically a flyer as well, but I had been chatting with some others along the route that were interested in a ride-along as well.  If there are others along for the ride, I'll drive (geeky road trips are awesome).  If there aren't any takers, I'll probably fly.

Seriously want to go to this - any good advice on actually scoring tickets before it sells out?

Trick 1: Be a member of their Google group.
Trick 2: Watch said google group for time tickets go on sale.
Trick 3: F5 F5 F5
Trick 4: If you miss out on Trick 3, wait 15-20 minutes from EventBrite incomplete tickets to go back into the queue.
Trick 5: If Ticket 3 and 4 fail, watch Google Group.  Tickets are always up there leading up to event.

I'm in the alumni pool, so I get first crack at tickets, but anyone that wants to go can probably get a ticket.
