for our Heroes
As I read the article (72nd Infantry Brigade) on Monday, I wanted to share very promising information to those Heroes returning to the United States after deployment to find themselves out of work. I am a board member of both the Houston and Texas Apartment Associations and these two groups, in addition to our National Apartment Association, have made this a focus for the past couple of years. "Hire a Hero" was implemented at a statewide level two years ago and strives to plan and execute Military Job Fairs. A separate task force was formed solely for the this purpose. The Multi-Family career has been a most rewarding twenty-six year career for me. In addition to the site jobs which are integral as they rent, retain and take care of our valued residents, there are corporate positions that include the following areas: Accounting, Construction, Marketing, Human Resources, Training, Clerical, etc. While many positions due not require a degree, it is important to note that at a local and state level, our education directors and committees have worked diligently to create courses at the local community colleges and a four year Property Management degree at the University of North Texas in Denton. I encourage all of our Heroes to go online to the Houston Apartment Association and the Texas Apartment Association to inquire about these job opportunities.
