I Play Violin…
Stephen Sinicrope
Because it’s not ‘all about that bass;’ what separates
mankind from the rest is that we use tools, like a bow
on strings that can drown out any sorrow
without shooting anything.
Because sound adds color to life, sensing
bodies, helping us to listen more, speak
less. Because my soul sails the strings, magically
melding a body to the music, mirroring
my thoughts as I play, omnisciently
aware. Because communication
is easier in waves. Because an orchestra
needs their leaders in song. Because
trees gave their flesh for these natural vibrations, ringing
to the heart. Because music speaks a language
universal, known to all, holding
You in a hypnotic embrace.
Because it bleeds
with your tears.
