A Necessary Beast

 

Sleep…

a necessary beast,

but one with seemingly

insatiable hunger----

 

for human life.

 

Eating and drinking

of what little we have…

 

We also sit at the table,

and claim a portion,

larger than his—

 

We shrivel, yet—

We smile.
