SWTOR.com was down today, which affected many things including downloading/patching.
First, I would clear your browser cache to clear up any issues with the website itself and then try again with the codes.
If a code worked for you somehow, you can go to My Account - Community events. It should list a NEW SDCC Cantina code for you to share with others.
In regards to patching - see what happens after clearing your cache and/or a computer reboot. Otherwise try the forums. There are always threads there about troubleshooting issues with the downloader. Support is always an option too, I suppose.
