We have the patch notes a day early. The update is still scheduled for Tuesday early morning, eastern time. Many of the patch's features unlock for ALL players, but KotFE story and a few KotFE specific features go to ONLY subscribers tomorrow. Those other things unlock for ALL players next Tuesday (10/27).



Key Points - 
  • Many of the features linked in the blogs I sent the other day are listed in the patch notes again, in particular the first 9 Chapters of the new KotFE campaign story.
  • New Flashpoint - The Star Fortress. This will have a solo mode robot like all Flashpoints will now have, as well as a Heroic 2+ version. This seems different at least in name from the tactical modes (which replace old story mode Flashpoints) or hard modes that everything else has, so is it a Flashpoint, or a Heroic 2 mission? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
  • Red Reaper Flashpoint now has a Hard Mode version introduced in this patch.
  • If you have quests IN PROGRESS, most of their progress will be reset to the starting step of those quests because of many quest based changes to the game in the patch. I am not sure of the impact on class quests, but I would presume they would be largely unaffected.
  • Many UI changes.
  • The new Alliance system for companions - Converts current Affection levels for each companion at a 1:1 rate to Influence. Influence can now go over 10,000. New Tier 6 gifts introduced (previous highest tier of gifts was Tier 5). Companions are multi-role as you specify. Companions can be recruited from other classes to your Alliance, at various unlocking points in the new story. Some cross class companions may not appear for cross class recruitment until the later chapters are released next year (chapters 10  - 16), but they are still available on your base class if you had them. I am unsure how companions will be awarded for any new level 60 character created from a level 60 token in regards to companions you would have normally received through the level 1-50 class stories.
  • Level sync implemented across the galaxy. Details not fully known until tomorrow about potential oddities in some locations, but generally you will be scaled to just above the planet's max level if you are above that level, else you will be at your current level. For example, a level 60 visiting Coruscant would be set to level 18 for stats, but a level 11 character on Coruscant is still level 11 and can level normally to 18. That same level 11 character leveling to 18 can continue to gain experience and achieve additional levels beyond 18, but will be synced to 18 while on Coruscant. Any character that is synced down retains ALL abilities from higher levels in their skill trees, but core stats such as Mastery, Endurance, Power, and Armor are all reduced. It is unclear if the reduction will have relative differences according to your gear. For example, will a level 60 in green gear have different base stats from the reduction to 18 on Coruscant than an exactly the same level 60 character in blue gear, or purple gear, etc...? Tertiary stats (crit, alacrity, accuracy, shield, and absorb) will remain unchanged via level sync. It is unclear how Expertise (the generic PvP overlay stat) will work in this system.
  • NPC credits dropped greatly reduced. There are no details on the particulars of this, but whenever I see "greatly reduced" I assume more than a 75% reduction.
  • Operations all available for Story Mode at level 50, with a bolster if you use group finder. Thus it seems gearing Story Mode gear will be possible from all old Ops. It's not clear if there was a difficulty pass made on the Story content. Hard and Nightmare Modes of all Ops are not unlocked until you are 65.

I'm just about done with the download. First file was main assets 214
weighing in at just under 10gig. 2nd file was English Assets 218
weighing in at just under 1 gig, 3rd and 4th were client files about
30mb each. Started at 10:55ish (EDT) it's now 11:31. A'loggin in I go!

Cool info everyone on the patch sizes.


Also a reminder this thread is to the entire group list, so let's focus it on information around the patch as opposed to individual game play.This is in no way a reprimand. Just a reminder that this was a group thread in case you were intending such play through status updates for individuals.


That said, the group list exists to get information out, and in part to also facilitate finding players for help or for grouping, just be sure to create a new message/topic along those lines as needed.

Story stuff is next week, as might be access to levels above 60. Many other features should still be implemented such as the UI improvements, companion changes, level-sync, new heroic missions system and terminal, etc...
