I bought this frame back at the beginning of the year to build a more road oriented allrounder bike. I was able to get a copy of the build ticket which indicated it was ordered by Bikecology in July of 1981 so I call it an 82.  I originally built it with 700c wheels and it accepted 40mm tires reasonably well but I wanted to go wider so I bought a 650b wheelset from Cycles Toussaint and built it up with Specialized Sawtooth 42's.  I tried the Sawtooth 47's but they were too wide(those are for sale in a separate post).  I ended up adding the Bdop offset brake pad holders to a set of Tektro 559's as the drop was just a bit too long.  If I end up really liking it, I will have canti bosses added eventually and get a repaint.  I plan to stick with the original color which is called Rose Mauve.

I don't know how to post pics apparently. Hopefully it works this time.

So with the 559's this is a Bob Jackson hardtail mountain bike with drop bars.   Very interesting.

I might be risking my 650B group membership here, but if you can only fit another ~2mm of tire in there with 650B wheels, does a conversion actually make sense?  The volume of a 700x40C tire would be greater, and you get a bigger diameter for rolling over stuff.

Not that there aren't other good reasons to convert...

I went back and forth on whether or not to convert from 700c.  I decided to go ahead because the 700x40 tires did not allow fenders. I don't have fenders on the Bob Jackson yet but it will have them soonish.
