I am looking for a good home for my 2008 Kogswell P/R.   The bike is 52cm.  If interested, please advise.

Thanks

This is the P/R (porteur/randonneur) model and is designed based on an old French bike design intended to haul newspapers.   I bought this bike new in May 2008 from Longleaf Bikes in Wilmington, NC.

Size = 52cm (top tube = 52.3cm, seat tube = 53.6cm)
Fork Rake is 64mm

Wheelset
650B wheels with Schmidt dynamo hub on the front and Shimano Deore XT rear hub. Synergy rims and Nifty Swifty tires (38c width).  The rims are synergy and this wheel set was built by Anthony of Longleaf Bikes.  Tires are Panaracer Ruffy Tuffy 38's.

Components
Sugoi triple crank with 172cm arm length.
Shimano 105 long cage rear derailleur
Shimano Sora front derailleur
Nitto Noodle 44cm handlebar
Shimano 9 speed bar end shifters
Brooks B17 leather saddle
Front rack is a Nitto
Avid brakes - these are the ones used on tandem bikes
Tektro short reach brake levers

Still pretty new to sizing for 650b bikes. I'm looking for something for my girlfriend who is 5'3" or so and rides a 49cm 700c bike. I suspect this will be a bit large. What do you think.

Thanks,

Erik

The Kogswell P/R's sizing isn't typical of all 650B bikes. The seat
tube on the P/R extends well above the top tube, forming a seat tube
extension similar to its head tube extension. The 61.6 P/R fits like a
59.5 - 60 cm bike. Details here:

(brochure describes the 1st gen Kustard model)

Having owned both 1st and 2nd generation P/R's, both nominally 56's, I'd say they did not fit the same.  The 1st gen fit like a 54, the 2nd gen (like the one for sale) was more true to size.

I'm 5'6" with 28" inseam and this bike rides very much like my 52cm road bikes (also riding 17.5" mtn bikes). The geometry for the 650b in my opinion is compensated in head tube length and sloping top tube on the Kogswell so this bike is pretty true to my others....except for the fact it can carry a lot of groceries
