I'm able to get some Ryde Zac 421 rims in 650b for pretty cheap through my coop. Does anyone here have experience with them? I am thinking about lacing up a set for randonneuring and light touring on rim brakes and ca. 35-47mm tires depending on what I can fit in a frame that is yet to be seen.

Sure, it would be nice to have some Pacenti Brevets b/c they look sweet and are tubeless compatible. But they cost 5x as much and are out of stock.

Grateful for input.

No experience with those rims, but SJS Cycles in the UK carry them and SJS won't carry stuff that doesn't work properly. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/rims-tape/ryde-zac-421-275-584-rim-black-36-hole/?geoc=CA

A couple of points - the rims are a little on the heavier side and I believe only come in 36hole drilling. These are probably considered eBike rims.

If you send SJS an email inquiring about their experiences with the rims, they will probably give you their honest opinion.

Where are you located? I'm tempted to grab a pair of these, but being shipping to Canada would be costly, unless there's a local supplier.

I'm in Europe. The rims do also come in 32h.

You're right that they're on the heavy side. But not egregiously so. (Some websites say in the upper 600s but the company site says 587g.) I'm just relieved there is an apparently viable option. (Good point about SJS. I'm only familiar with the shop through search returns and didn't know they are a reliable filter for quality.)

Years back, Fred Blasdel was praising some Ryde rims. Fred seemed to be a pretty critical gear evaluator, FWIW.

That looks to be the evolution of the Confrerie des 650B rim  <<Ambrosio Keba>> which kept the dimensions and extrusion of a much loved earlier rim.

I have a wheelset built around a different sent of 30mm internal Ryde rims that I've been very happy with.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy another of their products.  And actually, I've strongly considered buying their rim brake, tubeless compatible 26" rim, which is a bit of a unicorn.

Ooo I have also been looking for a tubeless compatible 26" rim. I can't get my hands on the Alex Adventurer 2 here in Europe. What is the model number of the Ryde rim? I haven't come across it.

Anyone know where to get these in the US?

For the US, I would use the ZAC19 rims (link), they look identical to the Ryde rims, though I am sure there are subtle differences.

J&B was carrying them (here), but they have been out of stock for a while. not sure if they are coming back.
