I got a new pair of BG Rock N Road's yesterday in the 43mm size. A letter that came with says it measures 44mm at the widest point. I haven't tried mounting them yet, but was wondering if anyone has experience fitting them under 50mm fenders (mine are the SKS Chromoplastics). They fit 42mm GravelKings just fine so I feel like I should be OK, but all the fit warnings that come with the tire make me wonder if I should try to fit the newer 55mm SKS fenders instead. I think they would fit on my bike but might need a little trimming around the seat stays.

Anyone have real world experience fitting these tires under fenders?

IMG_2645_Original.jpegThe 700c version fits with room to spare on my Bruce Gordon BLT with 55mm SKS fenders.

Beautiful bike! I wonder if that 2.5mm per side would make the difference between "room to spare" and "entirely too tight". Your fender line looks pretty high too, probably higher than mine on my Soma Grand Randonneur.

Yeah, my high fender line is a byproduct of the 48mm Soma Shikoro tires I removed to install the Rock n Roads. Those were pushing the limit a bit, but they still fit and spun freely without any rubbing!

I just realized that my last tires on this bike were the GravelKing 1.75. I never took a caliper to them, but from what I've read, they're at least capable of measuring 43mm. My rim is the Pacenti PL23, and I'm afraid to say I've never actually measured the width of them, either. Anyway, the GravelKing 1.75's fit perfectly fine under the 50mm fenders. Perhaps my fender line isn't as close as I thought. Still, I may order the 55mm fenders just to be safe, although installing fenders is far from my favorite activity.
