I just finished up a build on my newly arrived 650B tandem.  The size is "Small" and the color is Sage.  Captain saddle height is 75.5cm.  I'm not certain that cruiserish Riv-style builds like this are high interest content for the 650B group, so I will simply offer the photos without much additional comment, except to say Happy Sunday to all of you.

Get looking tandem on a beautiful day. How did your stoker like the ride?

Great looking bike, Bill. That heavily sloped design makes so much sense for tandems. And I think 650B is particularly suitable for two-seaters. The size and typical widths look proportionally good on the longer frames--not too big, not too small, not too skinny. I had one for a while, a 650B Follis. Wish I could have swung the Hubby, but will have to be satisfied with the 26" 90s Santana I picked up last summer, which I Rivved up with Boscos for captain and stoker.

Four different stokers have been thrilled on it so far. My son and I did a ~5 mile drop run down to Bart where he met up with friends and that was a blast. The I went on a grocery run and scooted back up the hill solo and that was astonishingly normal. I wouldn't rule out using it as a solo grocery run rig in the future. My previous road tandem took 700x32 tires and now it is hard to imagine why I would want to run narrower than 50mm tires.

I have a friend who was studying in Germany and while he was therr bought a tandem. He would ride it solo, but often ended up with a friend or stranger picked up along the way. He's very sociable and it was a way for him to connect with people.

Your Hububub looks fantastic. It says something about its credibility when your son wants to ride on it to meet up with his friends.

That's a great lookkng bike.

My son turns 16 tomorrow and for some weird reason forgot to become too cool for everything. I thanked him for indulging me in our tandem ride and he said "thanks for asking me".

Awesome bike! If I had the money, this is probably the tandem that I'd buy. For my personal bikes, I'm not really into the current Riv philosophy, but for a tandem it has a lot of appeal. I can't really tell -- this was a one-off run and they're all sold?

Rivendell did a run of 70 and they did manage to pre-sell all of them. They say that they are planning to do another run about a year out. I think you can get on a list to keep up to date on things.

Great looking bike. I really miss having a tandem but as soon as I start planning a tandem purchase I realize I'm just missing when my daughters were young and nearby.

My wife and I had a lot of good rides on tandems too, but it turns out that racing me is one of her main riding pleasures and she can't do that on a tandem.

Bill

Beautiful bike and story.

I have the same saddle height and am trying to figure out what I need for tandem size and steerer length. Do you mind if I ask: how many inches of stem did you have in the pics between the top of the headset and the bottom of the stem clamp? How tall are you? Are you still happy with the height of the bars or have you moved them up or down?

Thanks so much.
