My wife is looking to dip her toe in the gravel waters, so I am looking for a frameset (or possibly complete bike) to build up for her.  She's 5'5" but likes a short reach, so something in the 50-52cm range would be perfect.  Let me know whatcha got!

When I put a gravel bike together for my wife a couple of years ago, I purchased a Carbonda CFR505 frame directly from the factory in China: http://www.carbonda.com/road/gravel/cfr505.html. Frame, fork, seatpost, seatpost clamp, headset, and F&R thru axles were just over $US500, and I think shipping was another $85. I even got to specify the Pantone colour I wanted the frame painted:

I have a bunch of steel frame / fork combos at the shop.  Veloci, All City, Masi.  All of them can clear at least a 48mm tire.  Holler if that's of interest.  -James / Analog Cycles

The CFR505 does look nice and (IMHO) has quute densible geometry, however it's been reported online that they will no longer sell these to individuals. Apparently, all production is now going to a (US-based?) reseller, or was not long ago. There was discussion about this somewhere in a thread hundreds of pages long at a forum a few months ago, however I can't remember which forum - there are numerous similar discussions around the net. There are many other carbon gravel frames available ex-China, but most have dropped chainstays which limit gearing significantly unless you want to run 1x.

If you know exactly what you want, know how to read a drawing, and if titanium appeals, then I can recommend Waltly; they do very nice work at a very reasonable price for a custom and (pre-COVID) were pretty quick - about four weeks to deliver after the final drawing was approved.

Best of luck,
Stephen

There is a Cannondale Synapse H-Mod on ebay right now that's a great price. I've ridden this bike and loved it, though it may not take as wide of a tire as you like.

I think you could run 650 on it an fit at least 38mm. However, the BB height would be low and you'd have to decide if short cranks worked.

But if Analog is your LBS you should buy from James ;)
