New VO Milano bars!

Working at a bike shop has some perks! My new bars and Microshift thumb shifters are due to arrive today.

Next up will  be to decide on what grips to use.

This is going on my 650b bike frame that I built in Doug Fattic's class.

This sounds like an exciting project. I have the Milano bars on an upright-ish bike with Ergon GA3 grips, which comes in lots of fun colors and are very comfortable.  

For a different bike (with 650 B wheels), I’ve been thinking about switching out its albatross handlebars with bar-end shifters to the VO Milano bars and possibly changing the shifters to thumb mounts.   Do you know if the Milano can use bar-end shifters, should I decide to leave shifters as bar – ends?

Not sure if barends will fit. Since it is quiet at the bike shop I will  be working on it later this week and will let you know.

According to VO, Milan bars have a 22.2 lever tube diameter and therefore aren't bar-ends friendly.  There's probably some work around but I don't know it.

Their Porteur bars are available in bar ends friendly inner diameter but a different shape altogether.  To me their sharper sweep angle leads itself to bar ends better than the Milan bars.

I have them on my Follis  "velo de ville".  They offer a number of hand positions. I think they'd be ideal with thumb shifters.

So I am starting on the switch but my old VO levers are 23.8mm.So I need to shim as I want to reuse these levers for now.

Thinking to cut some strips of aluminum?
