My friend Joan just got one. She likes it so well she's
considering purchasing an open replacement top and retrofitting it
to the Aspin she has on her other bike, converting it to an Aspen
Open as well. She's been using cut-out saddles for years,
including two kinds of Rivet and Selle an Atomica and thinks the
Aspin Open is the best she's tried so far. I've seen it, and
you're right, it really does look great.

Hi, "mistertingey" - I'm the friend Steve mentioned. I have a "regular" Berthoud with about 3500 miles on it. I really like that saddle, rode long distance days and tours on it. But I would rate it about 90% of perfect. When I needed to buy a saddle for a bike without one, I got the cut-out Berthoud. That has only about 180 miles on it but has been pretty comfortable from the first day. I think it will be even more comfortable as it breaks in.And I have been thinking that if it continues to be so comfortable, I might replace the top on my regular Berthoud.Joan Oppel

Any real world reviews of the Aspin Open Saddle? These look really great but hoping someone can confirm before I pull the trigger on one.

Sounds like if you like the regular Berthoud (I'm in that camp) it's safe bet you will like this one. My Berthoud is very well broken in now but I can remember having difficulty getting the tilt just right when it was new. It had very flat profile and I would either be pitched forward riding on the flat or sliding off the back on climbs. I'm sure the cutout mitigates this.
