With Velocals out of business, where can you get reproduction decals? I've had some frames powder coated in the past, and found their selection and ability to customize very helpful. The surface mount versions were always great for an amature DIYer like me. Anybody reputable out there? Any help is appreciated.

Screen Specialties or for small runs Gus Salmon is your Man. Gus is Great and his decals are super thin.

There's also CycloMondo (Greg Softly) in Australia and H. Lloyd Cycles in the UK. I've recently ordered stickers (most of the repro guys do vinyl stickers, but not traditional waterslide decals) from eBay sellers bicals in Belgrade, Serbia and extedy94 in Ukraine. Both sellers make a point that they're silkscreening the stickers, rather than digitally printing them. The lines are crisp and clear; the metallic colors are especially nice.

I spoke to the Screen Specialties rep at NAHBS in Sacramento many years ago, sounding out their willingness to reproduce waterslide decals for old road bikes. He said that their company had a lot of designs in inventory, but that they would only sell to bike retailers and to professional restorers/refinishers, in order to avoid fueling the fake market. I ventured the possibility of Dale Brown's Cycles de Oro in NC acting as a middleman for the Classic Rendezvous crowd, but I didn't pursue the idea as aggressively as I might have.

Peter, you're obviously closer to SSSInk than us ordinary refinishing amateurs; has their position changed in the last decade? Are they now willing to sell directly to consumers, or are they sticking their ground on manufacturers + professional refinishers-only?

SSs ink does cater to the pro refinishers and makers and may not sell to others? SSS ink has supplied me with my JPW decals for decades now,,, time flies when you're having fun.

Gus Salmon's decals are a very durable and relatively easy to apply water slides.
His artwork and ability to recreate original decals is amazing.

His decals can be applied and left as is but they greatly benefit durability wise if carefully clear coated.

I consider Gus's decals pro quality as opposed to the thick, peel and stick vinyl repro jobs.

Gus makes my special tubing decals, my FFD fender decals and some specials like my tongue in cheek Shrinko/rinko decals.
He is easy to deal with and a treasure to those needing a small run.

A few things Gus printed for me.

Peter Adler — I've ordered decals from SSS Ink and I'm not a professional refinisher. I sent them a picture of my bike and they sold me a sheet without interrogation. They're worth a call and/or email if you're looking for decals.
