Hello all,

Does anyone have a sense of the tangible difference between the latest production Pari-Moto and the Panaracer Gravel King tires in the 1.75” (42mm) size?

Are they they same casing but the GK has different tread thickness and an anti puncture strip?

Thanks

I've put many miles on both. The GK's also have some type of puncture protection on the tread AND sidewalls; just a beefier tire, perfect for commuting. The GK's actually feel pretty nice; but not as nice as the PM's, which are noticeably more supple feeling.

Another item of note on the GK's. They are crazy light for being so "reinforced". Mine were 336g. Compass BSP extra lights are listed at 373g.

Doesn't that just mean that the tread is quite thin?  There is no magic here and the weight has to come off of somewhere.  How many miles are you getting out of a rear tire?

I was wondering the same thing, but rubber compound also effects mileage so maybe it isn't a simple trade-off if the compass tires use a rubber that wears faster ( but is stickier and more supple).

Yes, the tread is thin, but given the fact that I've commuted daily on these; and then on really rough logging roads on a handful of rides, and they are still going, makes me think that the rubber compound is a more durable compound than what Compass uses? Who knows. I've had these about 2 years.

BTW I'm referring to the GravelKing "Slicks". Which, like the name, have no tread whatsoever in the middle, with the same herringbone pattern that we all know and love on the shoulders. These things are (much) lighter than BSP's, but I can guarantee they don't ride as nice. But then again these are two different tires at two very different price points.
