Anyone used these? They look just right for what I need but wanted to see a review or two first.

My wife has these and they are great but I didn’t install. I have the 700c in my Rambouillet. Great fenders.

They look great. I hadn't seen them before, so ordered some 58mm VO Wavy fenders a few days ago. The mudflaps are excellent, way better than bending and eventually snapping long front fenders over kerbs.

I have a set on my 650b'd Jamis Renegade.  They're alright, a little heavy and the hardware is kind of weird.  (teeny set-screws and sleeves rather than trim-able stays)  But they're reasonably rattle free, offer decent coverage/length, and pretty well thought out for their intention which is to fit 650b conversions that have too much clearance.  (the seat stay and head tube tangs are extra long to get them closer to the tire)

Are you looking for big? How big do you need? VO sells 700c Fluted fenders in 63mm. Widen them up a bit to fit the smaller curve of 650b and you’re golden. I actually put 700c fenders on my wifes 650b’ed Trek 710. Worked like a charm (especially since they were on sale!).

David-
Which 700c fenders did you use and did you modify them in any way?

Hi Justin,
I used "VO Fluted 63mm Fenders, 700c" for my HHH Tandem, which has Big Bens (27.5 x 2.0). Reshaped... could've done a better job, but close enough for me!

Here's a pic.

Also, Velo Lumino has some pics on his Flickr of reshaping. https://www.flickr.com/photos/7516215@N03/8826797384/in/album-72157633821482372/

Good luck!

   Are you talking about these?

They're actually designed to breakaway in case something gets between your fender and the tire. Intended to prevent fender assisted endos.

I used the 700c VO Hammered 45mm fenders. Other than spreading them a bit to make them curve around 650b properly and the typical fitting around forks and chainstays, I didn’t have to do anything else. To make larger fenders fit smaller wheels, one only has to spread them wider a bit. I think that is actually not uncommon in any proper fender-fitting.

Here’s a Flickr album documenting the process: https://flickr.com/photos/101629269@N02/sets/72157682167497200

The VO link mentioned above is one I used for directions. I think BQ may have had a write up on it too. Trust in the force and you will succeed!

At that price, are they really going to be better than Honjos? Hard to imagine. I suppose they come in black.

I've installed these but not ridden on them much. The hardware actually seems more sensible and simpler than VO or even Honjo (though I don't like the tiny set screw that much either). They are well-thought-out to fit many frames well, and to give a lot of coverage. They are quite expensive and heavy.
