Hi, I'm looking for some detail on these. I have used the standard P-M in 42mm so I'm wondering about the actual difference.

It appears these have a GK casing and are tubed-only. Are they still considered a light-duty tire? Is the tread about the same thickness as the standard?

I'm thinking about these for inn-to-inn road touring and hoping to improve on the feel of the regular GravelKing tubeless tire.

Ed,

Do you have a link to the tire you're asking about?

Google search looks like Parimotos that have always been around from some vendors and something that's possibly newer model with "tubed" on Panaracer site.

Traditionally Parimotos weren't tubeless by design but some folks set them up that way anyway.

At any rate I wouldn't expect anything substantially different from the 42mm Gravelking experience/feel.

I'd buy what ever was best value that day.

For better experience/feel there's Rene Herse but I can't bring myself to pay price of 2+ tires for 1...  I am afraid if I go there I won't be able to go back and I'd have to replace all the tires in my small fleet.

Possibly resellers are adding the GravelKing name to their listings, and it's just the same tire as always.

Here are the reseller listings:

My guess is it's the same design but no longer with Kirk Pacenti's name on it.

Adding GravelKing probably helps hit more searches.

I think you are on to something there.

Whether or not they now include a tubeless design (like a GravelKing) into the older models is something I don't know.  Perhaps they did this a long time ago, as many tires did with the rise of tubeless.

Good luck with whatever tires you decide on.  Inn to inn touring on 42mm slicks will be delightful.

We have both the standard 650b GravelKings and Pari-Motos in the house
and the tread is identical. A Pari-Moto with the GravelKing casing would
be a... GravelKing.

It's tempting to assume that what these shops are selling are
GravelKings, but they're adding the Pari-Moto name to the listing to
imply more performance than actually exists. GravelKings are great
allround tires, but in terms of speed and comfort, the Pari-Moto
outclasses them by a wide margin( IMO).

Thanks Cary. My hope was for the rolling feel of the Pari-Moto but with longer-lasting rubber while still being lighter than the tubeless GravelKing. I think I'm talking about a 650b 42mm Schwalbe Pro One, should they ever make it.

I have ridden the original Parimotos on and off for years.  They are pretty close to RH, but the moniker flat magnet (at least in goat head country) seemed well earned.  I then ran them (without official endorsement) tubeless. That fixed the flat issue, but all my 6 ish) 42 mm PMs have had a smallish wobble run tubeless. The 38s seem better if not immune to the issue. I'm currently running a tubeless 42 PM up front and a tubed Misuboshi Trimline in the rear. It's a decent combo.
