I am looking for a frameset to replace my Crust Lightning Bolt Canti size M (55). The reach of the medium Lightning Bolt is too short for my current fit.

Thanks everyone

I have both a large V2 canti lightning bolt and a large Brother Cycles Mr. Wooden in green that I am selling.

Large Crust V2 Canti Lightning Bolt in Light Sea Green, $1057
- Assembled and ridden a couple of times last Fall
- Small chip on the inside of the lug where the drive side seat stay meets the dropout/derailleur hanger
- New IRD Needle Blaster headset installed by Mack's in Chicagoland
- BB shell chased and faced by Mack's in Chicagoland

Large Brother Mr. Wooden in Metallic Green, $500
- I bought this last Summer, but it has remained unopened in the box I received it in.

Lena,
First, the LB does seem to have a short Top tube, but why not just use a 2 to 3 cm longer stem?

Do check out that Large Mr Wooden from Conway. Effective Top Tube is 580mm and the seat tube is a steeper angle making it effectively longer.
Even though Mr Wooden is labeled large the seat tube Center to Top measurement is 575mm while the C-T measurement of the Med Lighting Bolt is 580mm. The Mr Wooden does have a 4.7deg upslope, while the LB is flat, so the Mr Wooden would have less standover  clearance by about 8mm. The med might be better, having more standover and still slightly longer Top Tube than the LB, but they are out of stock.

Lena,
Before you give up on the Lightning Bolt maybe you could describe the problem you are trying to solve? I like to size up personally, so get that, but sometimes that creates other problems. Are you switching to sweep back bars?
Maybe you could post a full on side view picture of the bike. Make sure the stem is visible and hold the camera low and zoom in from further away to get a shot like the bike insights diagrams.

I might be interested in buying the Lighting Bolt depending on color, but I'd rather see if we can make your current bike work for you if possible.

Hi Dave,

We both noticed the same geo differences between the medium Lightning Bolt and large Mr. Wooden.

I shifted the saddle far forward to accommodate mid-foot pedaling. To maintain proper reach on the Lightning Bolt (drop bars), I swapped to a 110mm stem, could maybe use 1cm more reach. Now I do not like how the bike handles. To me, low trail bikes feel better with shorter stems. I think the longer fc of the Mr. Wooden will also help with fore-aft weight distribution. It is possible the large Mr. Wooden will be too long for me. I am happy to experiment and learn.

My LB is in the seafoam green color.

110mm stem is somewhat long, but not crazy. I would try raising the stem, that will shift some weight back.  If you are running a 175mm crank, you could try a 170mm shorter crank, and then move the saddle back 5mm and up 5mm. I think a shorter crank might be more compatible with mid-foot pedaling.

The larger wheelbase of the Mr Wooden should mellow the handling, making the bike more stable. The Mr Wooden is low trail, but not as low trail as the Crust, I don't know how that will affect things. It might have a completely different feel. For the Price it might be worth moving all the parts over and trying though, maybe keep the Crust frame during the eval period.

I'm not looking for a seafoam or Lilac, I don't care for the current colors, otherwise I might already have a Lightning bolt.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but Conway, do you still have the Mr. Wooden up for sale? I'm interested. I tried a direct message, but I can never tell if those go through on groups.

Sorry, I did sell it to Lena.  I have a very nice Canti Lightning Bolt for sale though.
