I'm looking for a set, or a single one, of these Shimano Wide canti straddle hangers. I've borrowed one from a friend and if I can only find one I might be able to get this one off of him, but finding a set would likely be best.

P.S. I've borrowed this photo from a great canti brake article from Black Mountain Cycles.

These wide hangers are especially good when paired with drop bar levers. They add some really nice modulation. I have them on one bike and they've made canti brakes with drop bar levers feel so much better. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any others aside from a few ebay hits for singles that are in poor condition and way overpriced. Not sure if it'll help in your search, but these were part of the Shimano M700 "deer head" groups from the early 80's. Salsa made a similarly shaped wide yoke in aluminum in the 90's that may be a little more prevalent.

Oliver, I have have a pair but they're destined for a Rivendell I'm in the process of building up (sorry).  With regard to Josh's comment - they are off a 1990 drop bar Trek 520.

If you're unable to come up with another Shimano hanger you might take a look at the Avid Tri-Dangle canti hangers (I saw a pair on Amazon) Jagwire also offers hangers in a similar design.

Hey Steve and Josh,

Thanks for the info Josh I did wonder what group they were from.

Steve, I've seen both of those, and figure they would maybe be lighter, but I prefer the look of the Shimano hangers.

I've gotten a lead on some, so hopefully I'll get sorted out.
