The Cannondale Slate comes with tubeless-ready, 300g, thin-sidewall, supple tires (made by panaracer).  Does anyone know if these are available after-market?  It would be nice to have a lightweight 650x42 tubeless-compatible tire available.

thanks,
-Mike

The Cannondale tires are very similar (if not the same) to Compass tires and appear to share the same tread pattern.  I can email my local Cannondale rep about pricing, but I don't imagine them being any cheaper than a babyshoe pass.  If my hunch is correct, you might as well order them from Jan rather than a big corporation, but I'll get back to you.

I'd bet $100 it's a rebadged Panaracer-Pacenti 1.75" Pari Moto and does not use the Compass mold or sidewall. The Cannondale tread is the same as the Pari Moto which is different than the Compass tires.

Babyshoe pass are not tubeless compatible (I know some people have managed to ride them tubeless regardless).

The cannondale tires don't have exactly the same pattern as the BSP (or Pari-Moto, for that matter): the centre line has virtual no tread, whereas BSP has thin parallel lines and Pari-Moto small mottles.

No, I disagree. If you want the Cannondale tire, buy a 1.75" Pari Moto. The Pari Motos I am currently running tubeless have no such "small mottles". Perhaps the 1.5" does, but the 1.75" does not. It's the same tire as the Cannondale tire, man. As far as the 300g claim. . . . nah, I call BS.

These tires don't seem worth seeking out IMO. Schwalbe G-Ones are the business in that sizeway.

G-Ones are not slicks and add at least 100g per tire, though. So, I would not consider them apples to apples.

There is a panaracer "gravel king" 650bx42 up on the panaracer site that is billed as having a bead to bead breaker and weighing 410 or so g.  My shop couldn't order it or find it though, and instead got the pacenti pari-moto for me.  The pari-moto's I have that are a few months old weigh 330g on my scale, and have a very thin breaker under the center smooth tread only.  There is no way that the bead, or sidewall are tubeless compatible.

I bet the cannondale tire is really close to the "gravel king" 650x42.

I also have a set of g-one here that I'm undecided on running right now.  They have a totallllly different casing and construction and are begging for tubeless, and engineered from the ground up for it.

They aren't marked as tubeless compatible, but I'm running them that way. 1.75" labeled Pari-Motos (325g and 326g actual) with Pacenti tape, Velocity valves and Orange Seal sealant.

Hey just wondering which rims you are using and how this setup is holding up for you so far. Interesting in doing something similar.

Justin - what pressure are you running in your tubeless Pari-Moto's?  Do yours have the Gravel King casing?

Regarding the straight-up Gravel King 650b x 42, there are a few sellers on eBay that offer them.  No "Pari-Moto" or "Pacenti" branding on the sidewalls, so I have to believe they're different tires.  Would be great if it has a slightly thicker tread with bead-to-bead protection.  Anyone know for sure?

No Gravel King casing. If they publish the weights that should be a clue. The "event" 42-584 Pari Motos are labeled 330g. I was running 35-40psi on Blunt SS rims. I didn't ride them long after installing the tires as I sold installed with the wheelset to build a similar set with thru axles. The ones on eBay are different at least in the fact that the center section is not slick. I'm guessing the photo you attached is a stock image that is Photoshopped and may not actually be representative of any tire in the wild. i.e. That logo and that tread together. If it does it would just seem to be a Pari Moto without Pacenti branding.

Why would you think that if they claim it weighs 300g and the Gravel King weighs 410g?

I emailed Panaracer and asked them - they said that the Cannondale Tyre is the Gravel king 650x42, which is suitable for tubeless with a max pressure of 60 psi.

Interesting that the Gravel King is not officially deemed (nor labeled) tubeless. And it certainly weighs more than the Cannondale claimed weight of 300g. The Gravel Kings have a claimed weight of 350g and my pair averaged 346g.

It's definately not a Gravel King but that is the same casing I beleive. The tread is a cross between the Soma Grand Rando and the Pari Moto 42.

Well, that's what they said. The Gravel King has a kevlar layer though, and I'm pretty sure the cannodale tyre doesn't.

I can only guess they're not labeling it tubeless because it's also available in narrower, higher pressure road tyres which are definitely not suitable for tubeless. It makes it difficult as a consumer though, I think there's a lot of people who will be trying to find replacements for their original tyres and there's about 10 versions of not quite the same thing.
