I have often wished for a plain single color ultra-light Woolistic Jersey. Since I am in a proactive mood, I emailed Woolistic. I am looking to place an order if there is interest for a minimum of 25 pieces.

The Jerseys will be "Italia Blue" and other colors are possible. Firetruck Red, Crimson Red, Cardinal Red, Dark Red, etc. (of course there are other colors besides red and blue, just let me know and I'll ask).

Let me know if you are interested, as well as give me a color preference and a jersey size. I will come back with a quote when I've reached the minimum order. Color suggestions are encouraged, but it all depends on what Woolistic has in their merino fabric stockpile.

The basic design is an ultralight merino, 1-solid color, three pocket, 1/4 zip, short sleeve jersey.

This is very similar to the Bicycle Quarlery jersey, only with no embroidery or branding.

As I don't plan on making any money on this, and there will be no embroidery it should be cheaper than the BQ Jersey which goes for $162.00 on their website:
I attached the basic design: simple, 1-color, 3 pockets, 1/4 zip. I have also attached the Woolistic size chart. I will keep a running spreadsheet of sizes paired with color requests (send a picture of the color you want or PMS or Pantone color). If I get more than 25 pledged orders I can ask for a quote.

If you are interested, PM me or email @ samuel (dot) mccune (at) gmail (dot) com
Please include your size, quantity, and color preference(s).

Thanks.

(pardon for the cross-post if you get this email on multiple lists, I'm trying to cast as big of a net as possible.)

An update on the color selection:

Woolistic currently has the following colors in stock in the lightweight fabric:

Black  //  White  //  Red  //  Yellow  //  Italian Green  //  Italia Blue  //  Navy //  Orange

Other colors are possible but they would need to have 25+ orders for that specific color because they would have to dye the fabric especially for the order.

So, unless there is a huge interest (25+ people) in a single other color for the jersey, these are our color options for now.

I've collected a handful of pledged orders already.

More to come,

Hello all,

If you're interested in the Short Sleeve Woolistic Ultralight Merino Jersey group-buy that I am trying to organize. I wanted to send along more specific sizing information to make sure you get the correct size. Please take note and measure yourself carefully.

Once I take payment there will be no returns and exchanges will only be available if another person in the group is willing to exchange their jersey for yours.

To try to avoid that eventuality, here is the extended sizing chart that I got from Woolistic.

Woolistic Jersey sizing info:

Chest (CM)Chest (IN)Armpit to Armpit (CM)Armpit to Armpit (IN)Collar seam to bottom hem -- on back (CM)Collar seam to bottom hem -- on back (IN)
S92.5-95.536-3847.518 11/166726 3/8
M96-10038-4049.519 1/26826 3/4
L99.5-104.540-4251.520 1/46927  3/16
XL103-10942-4453.521  1/167027  9/16
XXL106.5-113.544-4655.521 7/87127 15/16
XXXL110-11846-4857.522 5/87127 15/16

Alex from Woolistic is 6’1, wears a 42 size jacket, has a 31 inch waist and wears a Large perfectly. Its actually loose under his ribs to waist.

Jan Heine wears a medium. He’s 5’11” and about 150lbs.

Theo from BQ/Compass is  5’8” and 130lbs and the small is a little loose fitting for him. He wears a small in Rapha, the Woolistic jerseys are a little looser cut than the Rapha jerseys. They are also cut longer.

If you wear your Jersey tight and do not have a very long torso, it is recommended to size down, as they are cut a little long.

Please use the measurements above to approximate your size as best as possible.

Regarding Colors:

I should be coming back with more information on the colors early next week. I have been getting mixed signals from Alex and Woolistic regarding colors. I am trying to get it clarified but I doubt that I will hear back from him until early next week.

I have attached a photo of the possible colors.

COLORS. (ultra-light weight merino wool)
  • Navy blue (the actual color is a bit lighter than photo)
  • Molteni orange
  • Optical white
  • Crimson red (the actual color is possibly a bit darker than the photo)
  • Italian Blue (Compass / Bicycle Quarterly color, not pictured)
  • Black (not pictured)
Unfortunately, Italian Green is only available in Standard weight. Those who requested Italian Green should let me know if they prefer a different color in the ultra-light weight.

But... the mixed signals I am getting involve how many jerseys constitute the minimum order in a single color. Since the majority of our order will be Italia Blue there is a chance that we will not have enough requests for the other colors to make the minimum.

I will write back again as soon as I know more regarding this.

Thanks for your interest!

Update:

Unfortunately, the super-lightweight jersey is a new product for Woolistic and is actually available in just a few colors. I was only made of aware of this just now. Added to this, it looks like the minimum order for a color is 25 jerseys. Only Italia Blue is anywhere close to that, currently at 24 requests.

So, It looks like Italia Blue is the winner. There will be no other color options, unless you can bring in 24 other orders along with yours. ; )

I should hear back about pricing early next week.

I currently have about 35 jerseys of interest thus far, but I am assuming that this news might drop us down to 25 or possibly less, depending on how many people will settle for Italia blue.

If you expressed interest in a color that is not Italia Blue, please write me and let me know if I can put you down for Italia Blue of if I should delete you from the list.

Thanks for bearing with me.

Samuel,

I sent my expression of interest privately.  But I wanted to say THANK YOU in a more public way for your efforts to do the research and sort things out.

Hey Samuel, and all. Thought I would revitalize this topic after reading the woolistic jersey write up on the compass blog. They seem like a great fall riding piece.

Couple questions: How did the group buy process go? What was the cost per jersey in the end? How did you like the performance of the lightweight?

And lastly, is there any desire to do a fall, long sleeve order?

I've contemplated buying one from compass but I'd prefer to have no writing on the front.

Cheers,

Yes - what was the cost in the end? Did the Group Buy happen?

Hasn't happened yet. Samuel has been diligent, but there have been a few delays that have pushed it. No details are available yet, but Samuel did email the interested group to keep everyone in the loop.

Hello all,

Sorry, I am overseas traveling for work and have been trying to keep up with this. I was hoping to have this finished before this trip but Alex has not been very quick to respond to my emails recently.

Thanks Toby for updating everyone.

I think that a long sleeve order would be great, but I'd like to finalize this short sleeve ultralight order first beforehand.

I will update those interested when I have more details.

Best regards,

Samuel

I have one of the Woolistic/Bicycle Quarterly long sleeve jersey's and like it a lot. I'd be up for purchasing a version of the same jersey without the sewn in logo's too, if a group buy like that goes ahead.

I'm also wondering, since the lightweight jersey purchase seems to be running into snags, might we get together on a group purchase of the regular weight short sleeve jersey's at some point? Perhaps not what those of us living in hotter climates might be looking for at the height of summer but still usable for other months of the year.
