Posted to iBob as well.
Freshly built up with some old, some new parts. Kinda Bobbish, kinda not. This is the 47cm frame (I ride a 54cm road bike). Mike steered me to this size (from the 50cm) and I'm glad I listened because the fit is great (I'm 5'8", 30 inseam). Saddle height is around 71cm in the picture.

First ride impressions very positive; already liking the shorter chainstays (428mm). Handling is very stable; tracks dead straight no handed. 25 lbs with fenders and 2.1 Thunderburt Liteskins. I'm thinking that stem would look sweet powder coated the same RAL 5024 as the frame.

That looks sweet. How much clearance do the Thunderburts have at the chainstays?

Sukho, nothing like new bike day.  That looks real nice. The color and build make me think of the Rawland Ravn.  Are your fork blades forward of center like the Ravn?
Also, I used 26" Planet Bike Cascadia fenders on my 650b's instead of going the 29" route.  They fit fine with Compass Baby Shoes at 42mm.  Did you consider 26" fenders or were they too small for the 47mm WTB Horizons in your pictures?

Again, nice build.  I'm sure you will have fun with it.

You know what Dan, now that you mention it, I think these ARE the PB Cascadia 26x60mm. I've had them for so long I forgot what they were. They fit perfectly on this frame and with both sets of tires. They're actually not bad for plastic jobbies. They wobble some, but not as much as other plastic ones I've tried.

Very useful info, thanks Sukho! The bike looks great. :-)

I've been agonising over getting one, but am sorta between sizes, though it looks like 50cm would be better based on your pics and saddle height; I typically ride 56cm road frames with a seat height around 745mm.

Shipping to Oz is the sticking point, but there may be a solution; I'll do some more checking.

Stephen

Stephen sounds like the 50cm would definitely be a better size for you.

For me this frame is all about trying out a more roadish, (not touring/bikepacking) geometry with this wheel/tire size,
that has lighter gauge tubing (8/5/8) than all other production frames out there at this price point.

A learning experience to inform a possible custom frame in the far off future someday. Something with even lighter tubing for my 140lb "frame".

Looks great. Mike said I'd be a 47cm. I have no need. I'd feel like if I did not have the Gunnar or my custom 650b then I'd be in the market, but if I got this there'd be too much overlap as I too would want a 1 bike 2 wheelsets for it

I have a saddle height of 75cm and ordered a 53cm. I gave Mike the details of my setup on my current 56cm Black Mtn Road and he sent over a couple diagrams for the 50cm and 53cm. I went with the 53cm, since I'm more likely to increase the bar height or reach in the future than decrease it.

Thanks Kevin.

Looks like a -6° stem on a 50, or -17° with few or no spacers on a 53 for me. I'd definitely fit better on a 50cm; if only the front centre was  1cm or so longer...

Sukho - how are you enjoying the Road+? How is the ride? I'm tempted...

Hi Sukho,

What shifter are you using with the XTR RD?  It looks from the pictures like a Dura Ace, but I didn't think the two were compatible.  Hoping I'm wrong because that would be a nice set up for me.

Thanks.

This is a very old thread but in the original post it says Microshift 9sp bar end shifters

All Shimano 9 speed stuff is compatible though, so Dura-Ace 9 speed bar end shifters plus an XTR 9 (or 8) speed RD plus 9 speed cassette and chain should be fine.
