campy-tire compatibility

I have campy proton wheels that every tire I try are difficult to mount.

Would like a 35 mm or 38mm 700c tire Because they typically are 3 mm smaller on these rims. 

Help please

Somewhat Random data point but 28mm Veloflex went on my Protons a little tight when brand new but not crazy, just thumbs. Assume you’re using something supple since you’re on this list?

Also probably important - these are fairly supple, non tubeless tires, are you trying tubeless beads that might be a tighter fit?

Tubeless compatible tires have beads that make them generally more challenging to mount.

I've found a way to make it a little easier: thinner rim tapes, improved installation technique and more sweat + profanity.  Sometimes with the butyl tube in there with the bigger bead it can be tough to get it all together and tightly pulled to the inner rim allowing one to pull the bead over that last little bit.

I haven't bought one but I think many people are now using VAR or Kool Stop tire bead jacks.  They look pretty slick in videos.

My thought would be to mount the tires onto a different set of wheels and bring them up to full pressure for a day or two with the hope that they become a bit more compliant with the Proton rim.

Thanks for all the advice

I had previously used the Kools stop jack & fould it indispensable but not enough.

I also broke over levers.

Here is what worked that I hadn't previously tried.

I took the tire & easily mounted to a different wheel.  I rode a hundred or so miles and behold the tire went on.
