The 42mm were great. Anyone tried and measured the 50mm variety?

Not the 650b version, but I had the 700 x 50mm tanwalls and if I remember they measured about 48mm on not super wide rims (older stans arch). Casing was about as wide as the knobs.

I have had the same experience as Simon with 700x50 Caz. Great tires but they measure out to 47 or 48 mm on Velocity Dyads.

That’s actually a positive in this case!

Glad to hear it.

This review mentions them being on the narrow side as well.  The author says 47mm after several weeks of use.  https://www.ridinggravel.com/components/soma-cazadero-50mm-tire-quick-review/

Resurrecting an old thread to ask:
Justin, did you ever try the 650x50 Cazaderos?  Did you also find them to be a bit narrower than claimed?
I have a bike with stated clearance for 650x47 that I'd like to try the Cazadero 50mm on.  I'm looking for one more data point if it's available.

Thanks!

Hey hey,

Somas have run small for me, and I measured those at 47.2mm on Pacenti Brevet rims (19mm internal width), set up tubeless.

Diameter = circumference / pi
                 = circumference/ 3.1414

So, add to the part of the tire  circumference completed by the rim bed by increasing the rim bed by 5mm. You would likely increase the tire width= diameter by almost 2mm to 49mm. That's within measurement error of 50mm

The Soma tire is by Panaracer, isn't it?
I dare to say the casing width, bead to bead,  is the same as for other 47mm Panaracer tires, including Gravel Kings.

I had the Cazaderos for a bit. I thought they did well on dry surfaces. Only reason I switched is I love the Ultradynamico Rose's and prefer how they ride.
