2 question. What is the fitting called that allows friction shifters to be mounted on handlebars and what shifters can be utilized?
Thanks!

Hi Tom,
They are called thumb shifter mounts or thumbies. Compatible shifters vary by model. Some include the shifter.
Velo Orange Thumb Shifter Mounts for Downtube Shifters
Microshift Thumbies – Paul Component Engineering
SHIMANO Thumbies – Paul Component Engineering
Thumb Shifters MTB 2/3x11 | Microshift
Thumb Shifter MTB 1x11 | Microshift
Thumb Shifter MTB 1x10 | Microshift
Shifter - Thumbshifter - Sunrace Single, Right side OUTER, Left side I – Rivendell Bicycle Works
Shifter - Thumbshifter - Sunrace LEFTSIDE OUTER, RIGHTSIDE INNER – Rivendell Bicycle Works
Shifter Mount - Silver Thumb Shifter Handlebar Clamp(each) – Rivendell Bicycle Works
I have had success with the VO and
Rivendell
thumbies paired with the Riv Silver shifters. The Microshift thumb shifters are not bad in friction mode, no ratcheting action.
