I recently picked up a pair of "27.5X 1.75" Gravel Kings for my Felt. I must say that I am enjoying these tires on the pavement and look forward to using them on my local dirt roads. There is one thing that disappointed me though, I ordered the 1.75" size, hoping it would be, you know, 1.75" wide. The tires have "27.5 X 1.75" printed on their label, Yet the size molded on the sidewall is "42-584". Okay, so not really 1.75, closer to 1.6". On my rims the actually measure about 40mm wide.

There is a wider Gravel King, listed as "1.9" inches wide. I was wondering if anybody here has those, and if so, what is the "other" size, (4X-584), as well as the actual size on their rim?

Like I said, I do like these tires but may want to try the 1.9's next time.

Thanks!

Thanks Mike, so I guess I can figure they'll be about 46mm on my rims...

Yes, I can confirm that they're listed as 584-48, check under "GravelKing: Tubeless Compatible" here: https://www.panaracer.com/lineup/gravel.html

There's well under half a mm discrepancy between the Inch and Metric/ETRTO sizing on the 1.5"/38mm and 1.9"/48mm tires. I'm curious why there's nearly 2.5mm discrepancy between the differing designations on the 1.75"/42mm tire.

Yep exact same situation for me. Surprisingly nice riding tires for $45 a pop (and lighter than Compass too) but measured disappointingly 40mm on my Dyads.

Thanks for the link Adam; Funny it doesn't even show the 42-584 listed, wonder what that means? Anyway, I'm wondering that if the 48 is closer to it's listed size, maybe I couldn't fit it on my frame. I think about a 46mm actual width would be about my limit.

Well, in any event, the 42's (aka 1.75"), really are nice riding tires so they may be all that I need.

I have the "1.9 inch" Gravel Kings on a Velocity Atlas rim. They measure 46mm on my calipers.

Thanks Paul! Might try them once the 42s wear out!
