I am not sure how I stumbled on the page, perhaps someone had posted about the products Chris has for sale (Chris Jacobs, the owner)
Anywho, at the time, I was looking for frames, and inquired - I am restless and have since found a Grand Bois, a VO Rando frame, and still have my Bob Jackson, so have no money or room for another bike, but Chris just got back to me about the frames he has on hand and more info. I am not sure what stock he has, but sounds like very nice frames for the money, I believe $1350 frame and fork. Here is what he emailed me earlier today:
Here is what I set out to accomplish (and did) in building this frame.
- Steel, lugged and hand built. We used Deddaccai and Reynolds tubing and the frames are built and painted by Jack Trumbull who has been building bikes for nearly 40 years as Franklin Frames. Jack feathers his lugs beautifully and he has a thriving business restoring old bikes his painting is so well thought of.
- Traditional geometry. I believe that beginning with the French builders the randonneur geometry has evolved over decades and represents the most comfortable well handling package for non-racers. My top tube is horizontal. I have attached an Excel spread sheet with the specifications I arrived at working with Jack and doing my own research and the specs for various bikes tested over the years by Bicycle Quarterly. As you can see I fall into the randonneur category comfortably.
- Some specific special touches. I had my own double plane fork crown cast with my arrow logo. My head badge is enameled just like the traditional bikes. My pinstripes and top tube name decal were done by a well known artist to my specifications. Our pump is held on the seat tube
I can answer any questions you have.
